The city of New Orleans was award the 2013 Superbowl yesterday at the NFL owner's meetings. The city was in the running along with Phoenix and South Florida. With the state of Louisiana and the Saints recently coming to terms on a lease deal that keeps the team in New Orleans through the next 15 years, the league was eager to get the game back in the "Big Easy."
This is great news for Louisiana. It will be the first Superbowl in New Orleans since Katrina and will go one step further in showing the world that New Orleans is back on the map. With NBA All-Star games, Final Fours, BCS Championship Games, etc., New Orleans has become one of the top U.S. cities for staging the biggest events in sports.
