After completing the best season ever by a Saints QB, Drew Brees was named the league's Offensive Player of the Year today. The award could not have gone to a more deserving player this year.
While early in the season it looked as though Brees could capture the MVP award, the Saints finished 8-8 and out of the playoffs. That caused him to not even receive a vote for the top award, which went to Peyton Manning of the Colts. But Offensive Player of the Year was his award all season long.
Brees threw for 5,069 yards this season and 34 touchdowns with a passer rating of 96.3. He is also a finalist for the FedEx Air Player of the Year, which is voted on by fans.
Congratulations to Drew on a great season.
