Saints Sign 16 UDFA

The Saints have signed 16 undrafted free agents, following the NFL Draft. The two that standout the most to me are the safeties: David Roach of TCU and Rocky Schwartz of Houston.

The Saints didn't select a safety in the draft and this is a position of need for the club. Roach and Schwartz will have a chance to compete and make this roster. With Roman Harper, Josh Bullocks, Keven Kaesviharn and Chris Reis being the only safeties on the roster, the two UDFA will get a shot in the preseason. Roach was actually projected by many draft sites as a 3rd-4th round selection, so he was highly thought of at one time.

The Saints also brought in some of these players for camp bodies, but as Sean Payton has shown in the past, if these players prove that they can play, they will get a shot to make this team. Some other notables include former LSU linebacker Luke Sanders, 6'7" WR Evan Moore from Stanford, former all Big XII WR Todd Blythe of Iowa State, BC LB JoLonn Dunbar and UNLV DE Jeremy Geathers, son of former Saint Jumpy Geathers. Some of these players may surprise in camp and push or even beat our veterans for spots on the roster.
